Detailed Analysis

Number of Days:
As expected, most trips are less than two weeks long. The Mission Adventures program fell in the middle. We believe that a ten-day trip is the sweet spot for groups.
Training Included:
Only two programs include any form of training. Mission Adventures is one of these programs, and costs much less than the other agency that offers training.
Food Included:
Only one agency does not include food in their Cost of Program. They have their teams bring and cook their own food.
Housing Included:
Two agencies do not include housing in their Cost of Program. These two have their teams camp in their own tents.
Bed Type:
Only three agencies offer beds for their partici-pants to sleep in. The LA-TJ Mission Adventures program promises a bed for each person. We believe this is a key distinction for our program. If the participants are well-fed and well-rested, they'll have a better outreach.
Air Transport:
Only one agency provides air transportation. This is reflected in the high Cost of their Program. It should be noted the group is required to make their own travel arrangements to get to the agency's training facility.
Ground Transport:
Four of the five most expensive agencies surveyed here include Ground Transport in the Cost of Program. This leads us to believe that this is a service for which many teams are willing to pay. The LA-TJ program charges an additional $110/person for ground transportation. 73% of the participants in the LA-TJ program for 2002 chose to pay extra for Ground Transportation.
Cost per Day:
The average Cost per Day among the agencies surveyed is $51. The LA-TJ program's CpD is just $42. Even if the transportation fee is included, the MA program still offers the most value.
