Palm Island, Australia
YWAM Townsville |
Monday, August 2, 2010 at 11:26PM Come and serve alongside the Indigenous people of Australia to see communities in North Queensland impacted for Christ. Just off the coast of Townsville is an island community called Palm Island, or Bukaman by its Aboriginal name. Many who visit Palm Island would say it is a tropical paradise, but history says otherwise. During the time of colonization Palm Island was a relocation community created for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people to be taken if misbehaved. This had an effect on the people of Palm Island and now there is a huge need to help. Now is the right time! God is opening doors for groups to come minister and share Christ’s love to the children, youth, and families living on Palm Island. So, hop onto one of Townsville’s ferries and take the hour boat ride to go and reach out to the people on Palm Island.
Date: During the months of June, July, September, and October
Cost: $549 per person fee (Cost includes training and outreach phase. Transport to and from the outreach location will be an additional cost. All groups organize their own arrival and departure from the training location.)

I am excited to let you know that I am lucky enough to be going on another MA, unfortunately not to Townsville and Palm, though that would have been fantastic. This year our school, our Year 10 students are off to the Northern Territory, in June. I am so excited. I cant believe that I am lucky enough to be going on another MA.
Even as a "sometime Christian", (someone that believes but does not attend Church or pray regularly), you will be amazed at your own reaction to what is taking place around you. The awe and reverence, the love and understanding, the peace that seems to pervade throughout the whole experience is just incredible!
There are plenty of fundraising events that you can hold so you can reduce the cost to you and your students/children.
To anyone that be reading these comments, as I said in my newspaper article last year, if you get the chance to go on a MA, take that chance and your life will be so much better for it. I can't recommend these Adventures enough.
I will let you know how this year's adventure went we we return,
cheers
Jill
