Uganda: Located in the eastern heart of Africa, Uganda is a rich and fascinating culture. From a wild-desert like-plain, to large lush jungles, Uganda is a diverse and beautiful land full of life, discovery, and many opportunities to serve. This country has seen war in the north against the LRA (Lord’s resistance army) for the past 20 years, which has led to the abduction and harm of children being recruited as soldiers. Despite the pain from the wars, Ugandans are very beautiful and friendly people. They love to have time fellowshipping with you and getting to build friendships that last a life time.
The main religion is Christian with a small Muslim population of around 12%.
There is a huge need in Uganda. HIV is rapidly spreading due to little education about how abstinence is important. You will have the opportunity to help women and children who are HIV positive by building a house; so they don’t have to sleep outside on the ground, you can help run a medical clinic, or by finding a way to get them a months supply of food, while sharing hope and love. You can help out in a school for young children; helping the teachers, playing with the kids, and raising money for a new playground and books. You can help out at a local orphanage; holding and playing with the children. You can help out at a vocational school for girls that teaches them life-skills so they don’t end up on the street or in prostitution. You can host a sports camp to reach out to Ugandan youth, while playing and loving on them, all the while making an impact for Christ.
We have a great place to stay in Uganda in the city of Jinja. We can handle teams of thrity or more.
